Assessment for Learning
The following assessment for learning techniques are used:
- Pupils self-assessment sheets for each topic covered. It is very important that pupils should be aware of and responsible for their own progress. These sheets are put in their books at the start of each topic. (See Appendix A)
- Each pupil has their end of Year 9 target written in the back of their book. It is our aim to improve on these targets
- Individual assessment by the teacher. Each topic will cover different National Curriculum Programmes of Study. These are shown on the pupils' self-assessment sheets. A copy of the National Curriculum Programmes of Study are in ther backs of the pupils' books and as the programmes are achieved they are ticked. (See Appendix B). There will be more than one opportuninty to achieve the Programme of Study. Gifted and talented students are given an additional sheet.
- Pupils are also keen to know how well they did within a particular Programme of Study and so we also use the A* - U marking system. (See Appendix C). Pupils who get less than a D will not have achieved that particular Programme of Study
- For listening exercises, half marks will achieve the Listening Programmes of Study.
