Studio Facilities


The studio in the Music Department is built around a hi-end dual monitored PC running Cubase SX. It is used during the day for recording GCSE and A level music performances and for the A level Music Technology courses. It is possible to record soloists, small ensembles or groups.

A brief gear list: Spirit Studio 16:8:2 mixing desk, Spirit Absolute 2 monitors, Pentium 4 PC with MOTU 2408 MkII audio interface and MOTU MIDI Timpiece AV interface running Cubase SX, Soundforge and Acid Pro.

Outboard equipment includes Tascam minidisk, Tascam DAT machine, Lexicon reverb, Digitech Quad effects, Berhinger compressors, Mackie Hard Disk recording system, Korg keyboards (X5D and SP100), Yamaha CS2x synthesiser, EMU and Akai samplers and Korg MonoPoly and Roland SH101 Vintage synthesisers. AKG drum mics, Rode NT2 large diaphram mic, Shure SM58 and SM57 dynamic mics.
